Holiday in Cornwall
Saturday, November 8th, 2008We had a lovely holiday in Cornwall, near Falmouth, staying in a fantastic 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom cottage called ‘The Old 19th’ in the grounds of a lovely hotel, Budock Vean near the Helford River. The cottage was fantasic, several times bigger than our own house with excellent facilities. We were also able to use the hotel facilities for free including the pool and golf course on which we took a short lesson with the resident golf pro. We enjoyed a lovely meal in the hotel restaurant. We found the staff very friendly and helpful and we were helped on a couple of occasions to get our lovely log fire going who have us a lesson in fire lighting!
We had envisaged spending much of our time relaxing in the cottage or around the hotel but as the weather was so nice we went out and about a fair but - to some of our regular Cornwall haunts and some new places. We spent some time on the Lizard, went over to St Ives and also up to Watergate Bay to eat at Jamie Oliver’s restaurant, ‘Fifteen‘ which we very much enjoyed.
