Holst Museum
Monday, May 26th, 2008Today we did something else that I’ve been meaning to do for a very long time - after meeting friends for coffee we visited the Holst Museum in Cheltenham. Somewhere I’ve passed by many times, always meaning to have a look inside. Very helpful, friendly voluteers inside (after I’d made the dash back into town to get some cash!) and really interesting to look around the place where Gustov Holst was born in 1874, particularly so as he was in first music director at St Paul’s Girl school in London that Sadaf attended - the piano on which he composed The Planets Suite whilst at the school was front room of the house/museum. Not a particularly spacious house inside, despite it’s appearance from the outside but quite a few rooms spread over 4 floors. Well worth a visit.
We got drenched on the way home (well Tim did anyway - Sadaf was sheltered by her robust Paul Smith umbrella!) but after drying off drove across to the Burford Garden Centre to buy Sadaf a plant for her room at work.
