TV today!

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Was amazed to see that we were about to be subjected to an 8th series of Big Brother (not that I’ve watched any of them!), this one even more outrageous than the last with the usual mis-match of participants, although this time all female to start with. This time ‘Housemates have to wash in public because the bath is in the middle of the living room, surrounded by multi-coloured lights. Some of them have to share a bed. There is also a secret tunnel leading from the bedroom to the garden, to try and encourage late night encounters! This programme is just an voyeuristic zoo trying to encourage immoral behaviour in the name of sensationalism. It’s amazing that it still has such a large audience - 6.9 million apparently! Says a lot about the state of the nation (and not just ours)!

It was nice, however, to watch a series looking back on childrens TV from the 70s and 80s. We watched it together reminiscing on things that we used to watch like Grange Hill (most of the cast of which are now in Eastenders!), Dangermouse etc. That’s when TV was worth watching (now I’m sounding old!). To be fair there is some decent TV about.
